Preparation of LAT
(Law Admission Test)

In August 2018, the Supreme Court of Pakistan instructed the Higher Education Commission (HEC) to conduct assessment tests for admissions to LLB degree programs and assist with the enrollment of law graduates with the Pakistan Bar Council. The Law Admission Test (LAT) is a compulsory exam by HEC Pakistan for admission to all public and private law colleges. Students who have completed or are awaiting Intermediate (HSSC) results can apply through the HEC ETC portal. The test carries 100 marks: 75 MCQs (see the chart below for division of subjects) and 25 marks for a written section (Essay and Personal Statement). The duration is around 2 hours 20 minutes, and candidates must secure at least 50 marks to qualify. LAT is conducted multiple times a year (yearly calander is given below). Registration requires CNIC/B-Form, photo, and fee submission. Passing LAT is mandatory to start the 5-year LLB program in Pakistan.
